Book your Roundtrip Ticket

You will need to book your own flight to San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO). We understand – you may not know your full plans or when you want to return, but we encourage you to book the returning flight beforehand with flexibility to change/cancel. This will ensure your entry into Costa Rica, as the government will want to see proof that you are returning to your country of citizenship. You can always rebook or change your return flight after you are in CR, and many airlines are currently waiving change fees.

Make sure you are flying to the San Jose in Costa Rica (SJO / Juan Santamaría International Airport). Don’t make the mistake of choosing San Jose in Puerto Rico or California!

When You Arrive at SJO Airport

When you arrive at the airport, get your bags and go through immigration. If you tell immigration that you are a tourist, you will get a 90-day visa without any issue, as long as you can show proof that you have a return ticket booked.

Get a Taxi from the Airport to Hotel Bougainvillea in Heredia

Once through immigration, get any taxi to take you to ‘Hotel Bougainvillea in Heredia’. Uber is more complicated and sometimes costly. Taxis are very safe, and everyone will know the hotel. The ride will take about 20-40 minutes depending on traffic and will cost $25. The ride may cost more if your party is larger and/or you have a large amount of luggage.

Once you get to Hotel Bougainvillea, go to reception and someone from GoRemote Costa Rica will be there to welcome you and get you set up.

Elective Medical Procedures

The standard of healthcare in Costa Rica is excellent, and prices are a fraction of what they are in the US.  This has given rise to a expansive medical tourism industry.

GoRemote has become a one-stop shop for guests who are coming down for elective medical procedures that would be unaffordable in the US.
